The experimentally-driven arthouse collective, THEMpeople have a heavy hand in steering the world’s creative sphere. At a time in history, like many other eras come past, where St. Louis and Chicago work in stylistic harmony to produce some of the most influential pieces in music and its subsequent atmosphere, THEMpeople along with other creative collectives like Ravyn Lenae and Smino’s Zero Fatigue are inventive enough to dictate culture at a macro level.

To it, when a member of THEMpeople produces work in solo, it’s all things inventive, artistic, and in this case, downright funky and sensual. Michael Anth0ny’s When you wanted your love interest to meet, but dey not fukin wit it… so you had to choose, which we’ll refer to from here on out as Polyamorous Situation, is a D’Angelo reminiscent piece of neo-soul perfection that although flying under the Soundcloud radar, will likely evolve into an influential spark to the greater neo-soul spectrum.

Derivative of funk and modern speakeasy jazz, Polyamorous Situation builds upon its instrumental groove a house constructed of vocal and lyrical intrigue à la George Clinton meets Anthony Hamilton. Funk, jazz, R&B, and neo-soul find their cleanest of middle grounds with Michael Anth0ny and THEMpeople experimentation, and we can’t stop listening.
