When it comes to underrated artists on the come-up spectrum, few muster the stylistic breadth of Santa Monica vocalist, instrumentalist, and producer, Leven Kali. When it comes to underrepresented trends in the current music scene, few match the deliverable strength and artistic duality of the A-Side / B-Side release.

Naturally, Leven Kali’s newest project, a clever A-Side / B-Side titled NunWrong With A Lil Good Lovin’ – comprised of two tracks: Nunwrong Good Lovin’ – is creative, trendy, and one of the most soulful additions to his canon and to music’s recent leanings towards neo-soul and R&B. When excavating through the hollows of Kali’s short, sweet career, there is a clear positive slope to his musical maturity. At only twenty years old, that growth isn’t necessarily surprising, but what is surprising is where it’s gotten him.

NunWrong With A Lil Good Lovin’ is the kind of masterful project that seldom comes from an artist not already crowned a top, influential veteran of their craft. But then again, perhaps we simply need to reshape how top, influential, & veteran are utilized. Leven Kali, other than being impossibly young, is all of those things and more. The proof is in his new project, sounding nothing like what anyone else is capable of pulling together; sounding everything like what everyone is falling short at attempting.

Both tracks are sweet, deeply rooted in popular soul, and come together to tell the kind of love stories we can never quite put into words ourselves. But, that’s what the world’s most inventive artists have the ability to do. Both tracks could also easily please a neo-soul and R&B audience in the same way that they would get anyone swaying to the popular radio on their morning commute. And yet, as cohesively as the tracks blend into one another, they also differentiate themselves sonically and thematically in their separate identities –as only the A-Side / B-Side could allow.

Honestly, there has never really been a shortage of Leven Kali releases, but with NunWrong With A Lil Good Lovin’ we’re anticipating and excited for more than ever before. One of the strongest young artists in music.
