Underrated Marvin Dolo Drops Silky Smooth Someone
Evan Dale // Dec 9, 2018
Two months ago, we were fortunate enough to stumble upon Marvin Dolo’s transcendental hip-hop-R&B grey area project, Crctr Dfcts. The EP, which is pumped full of anthemic and inventive jams crossing a broad range of stylistic influence, was one of the more addicting works in a 2018 brimming with influential creative collections. Now, the young singer, rapper, songwriter, and producer is back with an emotionally in-touch single, Someone.
It’s a track that though it is particularly focused on Dolo’s ability to pull together a relatable, beautiful, sensual love song, also has moments that openly display his knack for the more hip-hop end of the spectrum. And spectrum is the right word. Effortlessly sliding up and down the scale between the realms of hip-hop and R&B, Dolo is masterful at picking his spot and shooting his shot.
And Someone is a deep three-point swoosh.
