Alex Parvenu is much more than just a bold haircut. In equal measure, he’s a bold artist. Heavy inspirations from the past – whether those be Motown, soul, or funk – and the present – R&B, neo-soul, and pop – shine through in his debut single, It Wasn’t Me, not only in forms expressly animated and directly stated, but in equal measure, easily assumed in just one listen; one watch. The young UK artist who brings into his animated world influential artists of this era and of the past – the living and the dead – does so with good intentions, paying homage and poking fun at their fame compared to his virgin artistry.

That being said, It Wasn’t Me, is the work of no rookie. A uniquely talented artist with a courageous vision, Alex Parvenu attacks his debut with a modern take that would make all soul singers proud. And beyond it, a fun-loving vision and humorously catchy stroke of the pen make Parvenu an undeniable force of lovable pop-ism.

The future is bright and the ball is rolling, so keep your eyes and ears out for this young multidimensional threat.
