London Songwriter James Gillespie Delivers Emotionally-Evoking Him.Her
Evan Dale // Dec 1, 2018
English-born, Scottish-raised, London-based songwriter, James Gillespie has had, to say the least, an explosive entrance into music’s bright limelight. His six career singles which date back only to last year have been received by acclaimed and immaculate bearing from the global scene. Most often compared with Hozier and Rag’n’Bone Man, one listen to any of his six leaves it clear to see why. A blues-inspired, soul-driven delivery compliments the subtle, but equally-emotive guitar instrumentation he has a tendency to utilize.
His latest, a poignant ballad by the name if Him.Her. is an expectedly emotional “story of two people that can’t be apart. Even when they know how different they are and that everything is against them….” But beyond its thematic explorations, the track is just the latest that proves Gillespie to be a bright and imminent force on the global music scene. With an already sizable following, a continuation of releases, and surely a debut project in the works, only time will tell where he’s headed next.
