It’s been a while since Maryland’s McClenney has blessed us with a track of his own. Though the singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer finds himself most often behind the scenes of records for other artists – just recently being nominated for a Grammy for his work on Khalid’s Location – his independent music is every bit worth the acclaim and twice the groove as anything else his name is on. 2018’s sidetoside was a funk-strewn good-vibes anthem impossible not to dance to that left us hungry for more. And now, almost a year later, McClenney is back with the romantic, swaying SOS.

 

All of us have felt saved by a love song before, but McClenney captures that emotion, turns up the groove, and delivers another lovable track – this time encompassing all the feels of an R&B joint with all the musicality of the neo-soul movement.
