Kyle Dion Opens Up with Candid and Sultry Glass House
Evan Dale // Feb 22, 2019
Kyle Dion is a man of great sonic sensitivity, personal openness, and musical breadth who constantly lets his funk and soul-loving loyal fanbase in on his latest exploits and emotions. And from his translucent pedestal, his most recent delivery, Glass House is perhaps his most personal to date. A tale of promiscuity, losing oneself, and having the whole world front row seats to it all, Glass House is far from relatable to most of us, but is as lovable of a jam as ever.
Like all of his tracks, Kyle Dion’s insane vocal delivery takes center stage. But, also like all of his tracks, a symphony of organic instrumentation provides its firm foundation to Glass House. Layer upon layer of crystalline vocals find themselves dancing over a smooth bassline and sliding keystrokes, giving the track and final form like something rarely put out this decade. Instead, Dion draws inspiration – as he normally does – from the eras of funk and soul royalty of the past. And that timelessness and naturality – like everything else he has ever delivered – is what makes Glass House such another special record.
