Claire Mortifee Continues Nautical Run with Sensual Wide Open Ocean

Within the range of releases of only two tracks, Vancouver-born, Toronto-based soulstress, Claire Mortifee has quickly become one of our favorite voices. An emerging powerhouse in the realm of electronic vocalism, Mortifee, with just a pair of late 2018 singles, Sea the Signs and now Wide Open Ocean is making a splash as well in R&B and neo-soul. Starkly emotional, sensual, and apparently nautical, Mortifee’s new direction seems deliberate and strong, with Wide Open Ocean taking on more positivist, equally romantic, ultimately floaty form that brings the dance floor to a deep blue of her design.

In result, it’s not only another example of what we know her music to be – inspirational, emotionally-evoking, and anthemic driven by the power and mystère in her voice – but also a new, more upbeat, and slightly lower-fidelity dealing that widens her range even further. Whatever these new tracks are working towards, we’re on board, and you better be too before getting completely swept up by her imminent wave.
