Casey Veggies Continues 2018 Reemergence with 100 Times
Evan Dale // Dec 3, 2018
Casey Veggies has really been a bit of a mystery from the beginning. An incredibly talented writer, rapper, and musician at large, Veggies is a product of the same Southern California aesthetic that has also brought us Dom Kennedy and the warm, meditative flows of the laid-back Los Angeles style. But, since 2015 and the release of his sophomore album, Live & Grow, he’s been more or less missing in action. The world is waiting, and even taking Live & Grow into consideration, has been waiting since his 2013 collaborative album with Rockie Fresh, Fresh Veggies. One of the more innovative and complimentary collaborations in recent hip-hop memory, Fresh Veggies is expecting an eventual sequel.
But in the meantime, Veggies has made a vibrant 2018 solo reemergence. Stemming from his collaborative hit, Broke featuring 03 Greedo, Veggies has released a colorful swatch of tracks and guest spots. Team On My Back, ChaseOrLose’s The Chase, a 4/20 anthem – Show Off featuring Wiz Khalifa, a melodic hip-hop ballad in Mirror On The Wall, a dynamic Freestyle, and now, 100 Times.
The latter is vintage Veggies from the production to the foot-tapping meditative cadence and doesn’t only strike the balance between high-energy and effortlessness that we’ve come to expect from the still-young artist, but is also another step towards his first project in years.
Keep it coming.
