XamVolo is more than Fair In Love and War
Evan Dale // July 29, 2019
UK soul transcendentalist, XamVolo is a name that should be on everyone’s watch list. Heavy comparisons in range and charisma to the likes of Anderson .Paak whose own empire has erupted thanks to a timeless and stylistically boundless body of work, XamVolo has also been immodestly and simply labeled “the future” by BBC tastemakers playbilling his single releases. With his debut full-length, All of the Sweetness on the Surface being released earlier this year, he has continued a barrage of genre-crushing exploration towards another eventual large release.
With it, In Love and War, an electronically-nuanced, fun-loving sort of love-making jam built on heavy basslines and heavy lines of well-written, expertly-executed effortlessness. It’s the kind of wide-ranging and unexpected middle-ground that artists like XamVolo are fond of, displaying the boundlessness pf their work and their seamless coalescence of their influences – in this case neo-soul, R&B, and electronic production.
