From one of Nashville’s especially creative corners continues to emerge the stylistic renaissance of low-fidelity, hard-hitting hip-hop experiments by way of Ron Obasi, JORDAN Xx, and Jxdece. Taken from his early 2020 EP, Notes on a Scale ll, Obasi’s Mo’ Luxury now comes fit with a set of visuals from prolific director, SECK. Black & White and blown out with exposure, Mo’ Luxury takes on a near-worldly, near-relatable identity for its protagonists to deliver effortless, thoughtful bars and melody to an expectedly mellow beat. Trading verses and sharing their time on screen, both the silky, deep delivery of Jxdece and the more up tempo, deeper register of Ron Obasi bring balance to the track the same way that SECK does with the juxtaposition of light in the absence of color.

Mo’ Luxury emerges – like the track itself – an expressly Nashville product where big budget productions are removed from the artistic arena not because they can’t do better than what they’re doing with visuals like this one, but because what they’re doing here is working so damn well. Honesty, creativity, uniqueness, and artistic fervor only continue to define the wave of Nashville, and the underlying currents of its myriad artistic spectrum.
