Kid Fiction is redefining prolificity in 2018. The Australian transcendentalist has been massaging our chi and defining our vibe since we were first introduced to the sonic silk of his unique take eight months ago, and since that time, he has only amped up his productive prowess. From the releases of Silence Is Golden, Damn (3,000ft), and She, he seamlessly floated into the drop of his debut, self-titled EP, a pair of new singles in its wake, and a handful of live and directed visual additions. Now, after a tour stint through the European underground, Kid Fiction is back with another new single, this one yet again redefining the expectation of pace and quality in electronica while also redefining his very sound.

 

Still delineated by his signature edge, What Defines You, is a particularly fluid work of auditory glass. Revolving around his ever-ethereal vocals and touching lyricism more than any previous record, the new single sheds light on the traditionalist ability he’s always had. Of course, nothing is lost in terms of the track’s production, but it’s increasingly enlightening to see an artist so talented in differing, complimentary realms heavily explore the road less traveled.
