Innanet James Releases Honest, Humble Film Visuals for Memories
Evan Dale // Feb 11, 2019
Underratedly stylish and unprecedently underrated Innanet James is one of the more lowkey, high-energy talents in hip-hop. 2018’s Keep It Clean was easily one of the most inventive and unique projects of the year, setting him apart both lyrically and in terms of an auditory aesthetic as genuine and one-of-a-kind as they come. The broad range of lyrical and vocal skills that he brings to the table coalesce with energetic production to define who he is as an artist – pretty much indefinable. But if consistency exists in Innanet James’ artistry, it’s in his unfailing ability to weave storyline, deliver fervent verses, and be courageously humble and honest.
In honor of that honesty and humility, Memories – a music video pulled from the Keep It Clean concept – is a perfectly woven storyline of relatable day-drunkenness and memories turned dreams over the foggy screen of a film camera. Slipping back and forth between day and night, home and a bar, drinking orange juice and drinking drink, Innanet shares the stage with his talented counterpart, Taliwhoah until love turns to loss and the track’s underlying depth is unearthed.
Memories – like most of Keep It Clean – is an upbeat record with much more hiding beneath the surface. And in that duality lies the ever-emerging genius of Innanet James.
