It’s amazing to see where 2017 delivered GoldLink. A long overdue rise to a position of prestige and respect in music, a Grammy nod, and a series of intangible joint releases with top-tier stars are all part of his stacked 2018 resume. And yet, even without the accolades earned over the last year, the young Virginia star has been the king of collaborations since the beginning of his career. 

 

His 2014 debut album, The God Complex, hosted a Kali Uchis feature. His 2015 breakout project, And After That We Didn’t Talk, did the same with Anderson .Paak and Masego. All three artists now have flourishing and explosive solo careers and owe much of their rise to their joint work with GoldLink. His early work also seduced a series of popular remixes from the likes of Chris McClenney, Redlight, and Louis Futon. 

 

2017, the keynote year of his career saw collaborative efforts with Ciscero, Kokayi, KAYTRANADA, Jazmine Sullivan, Hare Squead, Wale, Radiant Children, Mya, April George, Brent Faiyaz, Shy Grizzly, Little Dude, Steve Lacey, and Falcons. 

 

Earlier this week, he featured on a Christina Aguilera single produced by Anderson .Paak.

 

Needless to say, he’s got friends.

 

And if his prior collabs somehow didn’t show it, now he has a track to prove it.

 

Literally titled, Got Friends, the newest single out of the explosively unique rapper and songwriter features yet another high-profile star, R&B lord, Miguel. 

 

The mellow, vibe-strewn poolside classic hosts the smooth coordination of a melodic, sunny Miguel chorus, and the unpredictably bouncy cadence and texturally complex penmanship of GoldLink.

 

It’s vibrantly aesthetic, warm-weather anthemic, and all-around good times for GoldLink and anyone lucky enough to be called his friend.
