Call him dijon, call him dark green, but first and foremost, call him pure, original, and more progressively talented than just about anyone else in music at the moment. The Maryland-bred, LA-based artist has been releasing an experimental string of inventive and emotionally capable tracks dating back to the end of last year where his acoustically-informed, R&B-inspired soloist endeavors truly started to take form.

And form is exactly what they’ve taken as we head into Autumn, where no track could ease the transition more seamlessly than Nico’s Red Truck. It’s another mellow, off-kilter exploration of the self that finds its way into no definitive labeling in particular. But that’s what we’ve enjoyed about dijon’s entire sonic re-branding, which with each track is coming to be better called a sonic rediscovery.

Again, arguably his best work to date, Nico’s Red Truck continues to exhibit just how fast that discovery is realizing itself. Powerfully delivering his pristine, signature vocals which themselves seem to leap and bound with each release, dijon’s songwriting comes into focus and competes for the top spot in his myriad of skills. With the addition of the subtle, guitar-led composition, and the hip-hop-inspired delivery to define the track’s second half, dijon, dark green is quickly putting himself into a position as one of the only artists ever comparable to the skillset and inventive prowess of Frank ocean.
