Baby FuzZ Gives an Epically Emotional Performance with Shadowland
Evan Dale // Aug 11, 2018
Baby FuzZ, a sonically explosive Montreal dreamweaver is an artist of unique distinction, but there is something so contemporarily Elton about his latest jawn. Shadowland feels like the poignant track that would be played at the end of every movie had the protagoni’s heroic fortune been reversed. Somewhere center triangle of the tender striking of piano keys, the soothing self-backed oohing, and the emotional range and roar of Baby FuzZ’s unmistakable delivery, one of the most honest and stirring singles of 2018 takes form. It also comes to accompany his lone other track, Cig, whose emotional gait is earned through a similarly somber, but far less amplified energy more akin to the wholesome acoustics of timeless folk.
Timelessness aside, we’re still trying to figure Baby FuzZ out and by the ethereal tune of his wide-ranging voice and pain-stricken poetry, so is he. We’re just fortunate that his path to self-discovery is being forged through Shadowland and unearths itself so uniquely creative and openly beautiful.
