Expected descriptors for the Chicago rapper and Montreal house producer? Absolutely. But that doesn’t make the track and less welcome. An upbeat, chime and keyboard beat by way of KAYTRANADA always makes the perfect backdrop for a rapper that can handle the brash experimentalism of attacking production derived from the danceable house-ridden space from which KAYTRANADA crafts, and Mick Jenkins is more than able.

 

A dynamic barrage of thought-provoking lines leaves a listener in flux, torn between the easy-going positivist beat and the insanely clever, quick-witted wordsmith that is Mick Jenkins. At the end, it’s just another two-and-a-half minute gem from two of music’s most formidable and transcendent names.
