If you’re a fan of mellow, funky vibes and soulful vocals, you’ve got to check out Francis and the Lights’ surprise album, Just For Us. It’s spilling over with creatively interesting experimentation combining raw piano keys, vocals both acoustic and auto-tuned, and electronic production and synthesizer notes reminiscent of 80’s pop.  It doesn’t sound like anything released in the music scene since Francis’ prior project, Farewell, Starlite, and is instead more closely associated to the sounds of past vocalists like Phil Collins. His clear inspiration from bands like The Cure, Duran Duran, and Depeche Mode translates smoothly into a more modern take and provides a bridge we never knew we needed between British bands of the 1980’s and R&B vocalists of the now.
