It’s been more than four years since the release of its predecessor, Dedication 5, and the world, the hip-hop scene, and Wayne have all been through a lot since. The Lil Wayne era is certainly in the past, but this tape is reminiscent of why it was such an important time in hip-hop history. Listening to Dedication 6 gives a reminder as to just how influential Wayne has been on modern hip-hop and thanks to his influence and the recent shifts in hip-hop towards a sound more inspired by his the mid 2000’s, his sound on Dedication 6 sounds more relevant than it has in a long time.
