YGTUT Stands Atop his Chattanooga Pedestal, Delivers Anthemic Get It
Evan Dale // Dec 16, 2018
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Chattanooga, Tennessee is the new capital of the Southern hip-hop soundscape. Where once stood Isaiah Rashad pedestaling the meditative lyricism of his hometown, now stands YGTUT. The young and extremely addicting rapper has one of the most listenable deliveries in the game, and if you haven’t heard of him yet, you better get on board now.
With what feels like an endless breeze of effortless flows beaming from his Soundcloud, not only is his catalogue deep, it’s also flawless. Since we’ve been pulled into his sonic web, YGTUT has done nothing but release great, innovative hip-hop that sees its inspiration continuously expanding across music’s sliding scale. A deep voice, deeper penmanship, and an unfailingly laid-back demeanor find their roots in his music, and like most Southern trend-setters, he continues to evolve without losing what makes him and his loyal proteges so unique in the first place.
His latest single, Get It, is expectedly even-keeled, balanced further by a head-nodding chorus that makes light of an old tradition – calling out regional hip-hop sub-stylings to get on board with the track and subsequently, his entire auditory aesthetic.
We’re here, TUT, and everyone who isn’t yet will be soon. Keep it coming.
