Experimental Nashville Trio, Wednesdays Drop Lo-Fi Banger, 'IDGAF'
Evan Dale // June 29, 2020
Embodying the mystère of the beat, experimental Nashville trio, Wednesdays continue to roll out the range of their collaborative sound with new single, IDGAF. The anthem bleeds first of its title, second of its deep, minimalist bass beat (JosephFiend), and third of its two lyricists’ vibrantly contesting deliveries. The result, tethered akin by the underlying nonchalant thematics of it all, is an IDGAF anthem for those moments when decompression from the stresses of the day-to-day are most necessary.
With Lul Lion’s melodic hook and sharply cut verse hand-in-hand with Kaby’s low-register hypnotism, the track – rooted in its beat – is reminiscent of Mid-2000’s Bay Area experimentalism that birthed the aesthetics of artists from Andre Nickatina to Iamsu.
