It’s not all too frequent in the current era of hip-hop that we come across a young lyricist with such profound and meaningful songwriting capabilities, and it’s even more rare when such an artist can couple that strength with a professional sense of production. Enter, Ur Maa, a relatively undiscovered Brooklyn emcee and producer who deserves a hell of a lot more attention.

 

His newest track, AFRM – a single from upcoming project, Ever Present, dropping April 10 – is an explosion of throwback flow and perspicacious lyrical ability that makes us want to shut down the iPhone and open up a book.
