Samm Henshaw Recruits EARTHGANG and Takes us all to Church

The neo-soul movement seems to be calling home to three things: its gospel-soul roots, its R&B adjacency, and London. Unsurprisingly, singer and songwriter, Samm Henshaw is making uplifting, emotion-ridden music blending the worlds of hip-hop and neo-soul from his London home. With a 2018 highlighted by a trio of international hits, How Does It Fell, Broke, and Doubt featuring UK lyricist, Wretch 32, he’s starting off 2019 with a similar outlook. Calling on high-energy Atlanta hip-hop duo, EARTHGANG for a feature, Samm Henshaw is here with a message of positivity and self-improvement to help inspire all of those with overreaching resolutions to fulfill.
Church, an anthemic delivery not only expands Henshaw’s recent catalogue, but is also an interesting and off-center exhibition of EARTHGANG’s range, removing themselves from their signature intensive and oftentimes dark rap approach, to something altogether brighter and bubblier. And it works. Here’s to hoping Henshaw has plenty more of where this came from in the months to come, because with it, 2019 is looking particularly sunny.
