Low Ride Poppy Ajudha & Mahalia Connect for Jazz-Ridden Soul Exploration,
Evan Dale // Jan 25, 2020
South London jazz vocalist, Poppy Ajudha has become somewhat of an underground force well beyond the unpredictable piano keys and always expected unpredictability of her vocal delivery. A poetic pen, and a powerful voice that can only be described as wide-ranging and ridden with emotion, Ajudha is a timeless force lending her auditory aesthetic to any artist whose own won’t get trampled by the uniqueness omnipresent in her sound.
Mahalia is a Birmingham Neo-Soul queen that seamlessly floats between any sort of R&B and hip-hop adjacencies she pleases. As one of the most exciting young talents not only in the UK, but in all of music, she has exploded onto the scene that past couple years, hand-in-hand with her fellow generation of experimental UK industry leaders of which Ella Mai, Kojey Radical, and Poppy Ajudha herself aren’t only her compatriots, but are friends and frequent collaborators.
Together, Ajudha and Mahalia are here with Low Ride, an undeniable addition to Ajudha’s jazz-driven canon that leaves plenty of room for Mahalia to shine as well.
