With their eagerly awaited album due in the very near future, Migos has charged what’s sure to be a massive release with the introductory single, Supastars. Its vibe is definitely on par with what we’ve come to expect from the global group, bringing intense energy, low-fi production, and classic hypnotic cadence, and doing so in a manner that’s, for lack of a better term, catchy as hell.
But truthfully, we want more and we know that deep down, Migos is capable. Culture defined the global shift to melody-focused hip-hop, brought the return of the triplet to the mainstream like never before, and made Migos one of the biggest names in all of music. Culture ll, if Migos wants to keep rising as more than just a pop culture icon, and instead wants their vast influence on hip-hop’s future to continue, needs to bring us something more.
