Leven Kali is on a roll. Really, he’s been rolling since Joy dropped in 2016, but between this year and last, a collection of singles and remixes including his global collaboration with Syd, Do U Wrong, his recent remix of Mahalia’s Do Not Disturb, and a couple short projects, NunWrong With A Lil’ Good Lovin and I Get High When I Think About Us have left Kali standing in a position as the most sought after and anticipated new voice to the R&B / neo-soul spectrum. Perhaps the recent upswing of releases is finally hinting at a proper debut album. 

 

Though that remains to be seen, another new single, Mad At U is just the latest track to pull Kali’s bubbly, positive, lovestruck energy into our lives. It’s just about the closest thing he has to a heartbroken ballad, delineating the desire to reclaim what he once had with a special someone instead of unearthing something new with someone else, but because of his innate demeanor, is still a warm-weather rosé anthem. And that’s what we love about his sound.

 

Like we’ve said before, Leven Kali is the king of soundtracking sex and cuddles after, and Mad At U is no exception to his throne.
