Play Too Much Kyle Dion Recruits Duckwrth and UMI for R&B Anthem,
Evan Dale // Feb 25, 2020
King of future soul, Kyle Dion stole the show in 2019 with SUGA. And en route to the album’s subsequent Deluxe edition, he’s dropped collaborative single, Play Too Much with Duckwrth & UMI. Expectedly funk modern, the track is an unparalleled exhibition of West Coast talent. Kyle Dion opens it up in the way we’ve come to expect: smooth and silky. UMI delivers her bedroom soul to the chorus. And Duckwrth tops off the whole thing with a vibrant chorus straddling the merged lanes of hip-hop and R&B.
What’s most impressive about the collaborative joint is that even amongst the insanity that is SUGA (Deluxe) at large, Play Too Much is still able to thrive as one of the album’s most noteworthy standouts. Hand in hand with Stay The Night – a leading single that wasn’t included in the project’s original cut, and Time Heals, Just Not Quick Enough – the Deluxe edition is stellar.
