London-Ghanaian producer, Juls blessed the Summer of 2019 with one of the more inventive and showcasing albums of the West African Cultural Renaissance, Colour. A bold and vivid coalescence between the world of London electronica, modern composition, and traditional roots in vocalism and percussion particularly, Colour is one of many albums this year to put on display the importance of West Africa’s explosion into the current pop culture cloth; but was the first to do it from the perspective of a single producer with diasporic influence.

 

Taken from Colour, is particularly standout in its lack of outside influence. It’s the most traditional from the album and its new visuals are reflective of that. Flying through the streets of Accra on the back of a motor bike, Juls allows for the visuals and the song to speak for themselves. Beautifully candid and immersive, Nyafu Riddim does justice to its inspiration.
