Massachusetts trio Deadmall + Rothstein Release Self-Titled EP
Evan Dale // Sep 6, 2019
Everyone’s favorite Massachusetts underdogs, Gabe Gill and Honeyfitz make emotional pop music bleeding of Americana folk futurism. When together, they go by DEADMALL and when collaborating with friend and fellow Mass musician, Rothstein, they find even further balance and calm in their aesthetic. Collectively, their new three-track project goes by a name unassuming of the vibrant creativity of which it breathes. It’s hard to tell whether Deadmall + Rothstein is a proper, thought-out EP, or if it’s simply a cohesive trio of loosies, but in either circumstance, the project is an emotion-ridden, pop-adjacent exploration of vocal play and independent production. And in that arena, it thrives.
this might all make sense is a particular favorite.
Keep a lookout for all three artists as solo acts, as duos, and as a collective trio, because between all their unique deliveries, there is an insane amount of underexplored talent here.
