Dave B & Sango Team Up for another Fast-Paced Seattle Anthem, 48

A powerful stream of innovation continues to flow from Seattle, and leading the charge are Sàngo and Dave B. The two don’t always collaborate, and their solo work is likewise listenable as hell, but when they do get together, it’s magic. It should be noted that neither of them are really comparable to their artistic counterparts. No one has what it takes to make music that sounds like either of theirs, let alone their work as a duo. Maybe it’s something in the rain, but the production of Sàngo has long been in a left-of-center league of its own, and the ever-changing delivery of Dave B. continues to turn heads.

When they last worked mutually a few months back, they gave us I Rhymed King with King – a violently explosive short track that begged for another verse or at least to be left on repeat for the sake of longer parties. But now with 48, they’ve expectedly unearthed something altogether new and intriguing.

With a dizzy sample on loop and an impossibly complex layer of guitar chords and drum kits beneath it, Sángo sets the stage for Dave B. to do that which he has recently become inarguably dominant at. As a vocalist and lyricist, Dave B does it all within a spectrum of blendaline hip-hop/R&B all his own, but recently, he’s notched up his cadence and made a case for being one of the most adept rappers around.

48 fits right in line and is just another underrated anthem that will help to make Seattle continue its growth in reputation is a modern music capital of innovative sounds and endless creativity.
