An artist so open to the explosion of alternative cuts on their originals is a rare thing in the modern scene of self-production and blurred lines of stylistic definition, but Brooklyn songwriter, Cautious Clay has thus far in his career enjoyed exploring the wide range of his possible sound. From the already transcendent musicality of his original EP’s, Blood Type and Resonance, to self-made acoustic editions, he now adds another spectrum to the push of his art, walking in the wise footsteps of those before him who have embraced the electronic remixes of their work.
Perhaps the most balanced aspect of such an already balanced approach, is Cautious Clay’s decision to format the Blood Type Remixes collection as an eclectic mix of producers who in and of themselves, speak for a wide range of the circuit. Not only is therefore his sound – thanks in large part to Nick AM’s success editing Cold War – becoming a staple within the boundaries of a styling not his own, but it’s also finding its way into each and every subset niche.
Each track is as quality and respectful as it is a bold, innovative direction on an already great original. Exactly what is expected from a fresh take, and exactly what, at this point in his so clearly capable and open career, is expected from Cautious Clay.
