Kenton Chen with New Project Bridesmen Makes Every One of Us Emotional

“I just want someone who loves me.”
Don’t we all.
“There ain’t nothing original. Nothing that I can say that hasn’t been said before” bellow the powerful, emotionally-capable vocals of our protagonist.
Kenton Chen AKA Bridesmen by the namesake of his new project, is just about the last person on Earth expected to be struggling with such relatable problems, but the never-ending search for love and the desire to express ourselves are so innately Earth that Bridesmen’s newest single and video can’t help but be empathized with. Like some anti-reality version of D’Angelo’s Untitled where brutalizing lust is replaced with wholesome love and D’Angelo’s impossibly strong core is replaced with Chen’s vintage clear frames, the video for Someone Who Loves Me – which exhibits Chen and friends of all different races and sexualities nude and center screen – may one day come to find an equivocal stance in pop culture and immeasurable musical importance.
The message is simple: "It's okay to be sad, to be frustrated, even angry in our pursuit of life, love, and happiness. And the more aware and vulnerable we can be about it, the more we can be there for each other”, confides Chen.
Though simple, the message is powerful. As is the song. As are the visuals. Emotionally-wrenching and tear-jerking to the core, Someone Who Loves Me is such a profound and necessary work of art that’s it’s almost easy to look past the music on its own. Chen is a supremely talented vocalist who uses his minimalist instrumentation as a supplementary backdrop to his voice, and Someone Who Loves Meis Chen utilizing that voice to do everything he can to empower and instill positivity and self-worth in anyone listening.
Such a project requires more than a talented musician. It requires a unique person who, knowledgeable of their gift, and willing to harness it to fight for a better world. Bold, shocking, and yet so humbly honest and relatable, Chen as Bridesmen is a necessary genius and we can’t wait for more.
