From one of today’s most underrated artists; From one of 2020’s most underrated albums; From hip-hop’s undisputed emerging capital, Nashville’s Brian Brown has released his first music video from breakout album, Journey. Flava, plucked from the heart of Journey’s lineup, is – like each other track on the project – an exhibition of Brown’s prowess as a lyricist with an unparalleled unique flow. Flava is a directed storyline with the kind of immersive grace that simply isn’t as common in rap as it used to be. But in Nashville, from Brown and an innumerable number of rapping compatriots, the stories of everyday life in the South make for some of the best hip-hop in the game. And watching him belay that lyricism on a black & white screen is a work of theater.

Brian Brown’s charisma is intangible and electrifying. Simple in his demeanor; complex in his mind’s working through words, he with Flava – at the hands of director, SECK – churns out one of the most honest, beautiful videos of the year.
